About American fly fishing company

American Fly Fishing Company was founded in late 2018 by local guide, Jamie SanFilippo. Currently, operating out of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, we explore Central PA’s world class Wild Brown Trout and Native Brook Trout fisheries. We are known for having technical water and seasoned trout. Some of our most popular creeks are Spring Creek, Fishing Creek, Penns Creek, Spruce Creek, and the Little Juniata. Each of our streams have their own “personality” with different insect hatches and fish behavior.

We take an educational approach to guiding and instructing. Our goal is to increase confidence by being efficient, intentional, and versatile on the water. We work with true beginners to the most experienced anglers. We believe in being well rounded, from tight line nymphing and euro-jigging to swinging wet flies and throwing the smallest dries, we can teach it all.

Jamie, our owner/operator began fly fishing after graduating from Penn State and quickly joined local conservation groups and women fly fishing initiatives. Jamie is a certified Fly Fishing Guide and Fishing Skills Instructor through the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and is currently a Board Member and past President of the Spring Creek Chapter of Trout Unlimited. She is a Streamside Mentor for the Veteran Service Program of Spring Creek TU and is also involved with many fly fishing camps and programs for women and children of all ages throughout the year. Jamie has been mentored by Joe Humphreys and her favorite style of fly fishing is tight line nymphing. During her free time, Jamie enjoys going to concerts, mushroom foraging, volunteering, bird and archery hunting, traveling, and fly fishing.
